HL7 delivers healthcare interoperability standards

IHIC 2008

10 November 2008

The UK was represented at the 9th International HL7 Interoperability conference last month in Greece, by the HL7 UK Chair Rik Smithies.

Delegates heard speakers from 15 countries presenting their experiences of deploying HL7. It was good to see that many papers were presented by groups from more than one country. Rik gave a paper about using HL7 graphical templates with CDA.

Keynote speakers included HL7 board members Ed Hammond and Liora Alschuler. In depth sessions covered IHE XDS, CDA and experiences from European national programmes.

The next IHIC is scheduled to be just before the 2009 spring Working Group Meeting in Kyoto, Japan, May 8th-9th.

Thanks to our colleagues in HL7 Hellas for organising a great conference.
