HL7 and IHE have a long history of partnership and producing complementary standards. IHE typically take HL7 standards and write deployment guides ("profiles") that demonstrate how to use them in a particular context. This is a valuable extra layer on top of the sometimes rather abstract source material.

To be considered for incorporation in the trial implementation versions of these
supplements, comments must be submitted by July 1, 2009.
