At the Jan 2012 WGM SOME HL7 work groups will be conducting co-chair elections. HL7 UK currently have several members who are actively involved in HL7 leadership positions. Two of our Members - Martin Hurrell and René Spronk are standing for re-election as Working Group Co-chairs at the Jan WGM.
Generation of Anesthesia Standards
This group will be electing one co-chair to fill the position currently held by Martin Hurrell.
Martin Hurrell, PhD - I have been a member of the UK Society for Computing and Technology in Anaesthesia (SCAT) since its inception in 1987, am a founder member of the European Society for Computing and Technology in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (ESCTAIC) and Technical Director of the International Organization for Terminology in Anesthesia (IOTA). I have around 20 years experience working with electronic Anesthesia Information Management Systems.
Over the past six years, I've had the pleasure to serve as Co Chair of the Generation of Anesthesia Standards Working Group (GAS WG). During this time we have held regular joint meetings with the International Organization for Terminology in Anesthesia (IOTA) which has generated over 5,000 terms, the majority of which are mapped to SNOMED CT and some, to ISO 11073. We have also held regular meetings with the Healthcare Devices WG and have developed a CDA-compliant representation of vital signs based on the ISO 11073 Domain Information Model. The GAS WG has recently successfully balloted a Domain Analysis Model (DAM) for Anesthetic Pre-operative Assessment and is working on an Implementation Guide for the Intra Operative Anesthetic Record. I hope this, together with the terminology work, will help the implementation of practical, standards-based, electronic anesthetic records that can support not only the core medico-legal requirements but also facilitate quality improvement and outcomes research.
